| Other Abstract: | The objectives of the study were to monitor and evaluate the Cancer Excellence Center Project in a number of locations in Thailand, focusing on the effectiveness of transforming policy into practice, on managemant at the cancer center level, and on results and impact. We collected data by questionnaires, indepth interviews, and focus group discussions. The results indicated that there were three regions where excellence centers were not available; more than 80 percent of cancer patients in 36 provinces had access to centers in their own regions. There was a capacity gap in terms of equipment and human resources. Thailand has not established explicit criteria, or goals for cancer service system development or made an organization responsible for development direction. Therefore, it is imperative to conduct further stakeholder analyses and prepare an agenda for national policy |
