Factors Related to Success in Operation of the District Health Cooperation CommitteeThe objective of this study was to determine important factors related to operational success of the District Health Cooperation Committee. The study methodology was a qualitative study using focus group discussion. The representative committees for the discussion were from two groups, one from the committee awarded as the excellent regional committees by the Ministry of Public Health in 1995, the other sampled from the regions which did not have the awarded committee (one committee from one region). The study found the awarded committees’ views of public administration were more initiative than that of the non-awarded committees especially on the ground of community participation towards the development of health centres. The critical point possibly leading to conflicts between the district hospital director and the district health officials was the work promotion to health personnel at health centres as liable to the director and the hospital committee. It was however important that the more obviously and practically supportive provincial policy is regarded by the District Health Cooperation Committee, the more success in the Committee’s operation is.
