Strategic basic research for fundamental knowledge on Brain-Mind- Behavior and graduate programs for Neuroscience at Naresuan University, Thailand

Abstract

Neuroscience, the study of the brain, mind, and behavior, is one of the most essential areas of science, which explores knowledge for understanding human nature and society. Therefore, Naresuan University by the Faculty of Medical Science, has established the PhD program in Neuroscience since 2013. The program aims to develop new researchers in neuroscience who are able to use their advanced scientific knowledge and skills in their research and academic profession. Moreover, the program purposes to emphasize the quality of scientific research that provides new knowledge interventions to improve human quality of life via multidisciplinary knowledge in neuroscience. In Naresuan University, the areas of research interest include both basic and clinical neurosciences such as neuropsychopharmacology related with psychiatric disease, nutritional medicine and herbal medicine related to brain function (for prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation neurological diseases), behavioral and cognitive neurosciences related with aging and dementia, drug addiction including mechanisms, treatment, and rehabilitation of addicted brain, etiology of neurological disease including genetics, and neuronal stem cell and neurogenesis
