dc.description.abstract | antimicrobial medicines, especially antibacterial agents, are essential to medical care and public health. As well as having a vital role in reducing morbidity and mortality in individuals who present with bacterial infections, they are also important for the prevention of infections associated with surgery, organ transplantation and chemotherapy. Antimicrobials are also essential for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases in veterinary practice and agriculture including the livestock industry and in fisheries; they are also used in crop production. They are therefore important for the food production chain and for the national economy. The National Strategic Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance 2017-2021 is Thailand's first national strategy that is specifically targeted towards addressing AMR issues. It sets clear and measurable goals as well as establishing an integrated framework to resolve AMR issues. It is also responsive to the national situation with an emphasis on multi-sectoral collaboration through the One Health approach and takes into account both national and international policies in order to systematize actions to address AMR. Thailand's National Strategic Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance 2017-2021 is also aligned with the Global Action Plan, reflecting the country's commitment to join forces internationally in resolving AMR issues. | en_EN |
