Abstract

Samutprakarn’s sampling survey information system for health managementThe survey employing cluster sampling technique covered the entire area of the province and households were sampling units.300 clusters were selected based on the probability proportional to size of households in each sub-district. The target groups included population in general, married women in reproductive age, the youngest 0-5 year old children in the household and mothers who currently have 0-2 year old infants. The data obtained from the questionnaire included population age structure; health insurance coverage; vaccination and family planning coverage; education and communication for health; maternal and child health; dental health; environmental health; AIDS control; accident control; nutrition; tobacco consumption; consumer protection; and public and private health services utilization. Data from 2,289 households in Samutprakarn were collected from the field survey. Population listed in the household registration records(de jure) did not correspond with the actual(de facto) number of population. The result of the survey has been utilized in the planning, monitoring and evaluation processes of the provincial health office.
