dc.description.abstract | Well-organized governmental organization for health promotion: Case Study of the Health Promotion Center Zone 1This study aims to elaborate process and success of the Health Promotion Center Zone 1 is as a case study of well-organized governmental organization for health promotion, as well as describe factors and conditions of success including recommends for policy, management, and basic infrastructures that are necessary for other health promotion organization to develop their own programs. Qualitative research methodology was used for the study. Most of information gathered from interviewing the Center's administrators, the staff and from literature review of relevant reports and documents. The data was analyzed by using organizational structure, work system, strategies and personnel as well as the Ottwa Charter conceptual framework for health promotion. The study found that1. The Health Promotion Center Zone 1 is a government organization that has designed its structure to fit for development of model and body of knowledge of health promotion program. Most of the center's policies follows to the national health plan and specific policy from the Permanent Secretary, the Ministry of Public Health and the Director - General of the Department of the Health as its superior. Therefore, policies of the center are broad and depends upon concentration of its superior. The core policy has been designed according to its new organizational structure that emphasizes on the complete health promotion service based on age-ranged defining target group. However, it has been noticed that the policy was defined from external factors, and lacked of the policy development from its own conditions. 2. The new organizational structure of the center is well-designed and fits for its technical and body of knowledge that defines the target population by age-ranged and consist of multidisciplinary of medical and health personnel to promote holistic health promotion approach. These factors support the readiness and effectiveness of the center's personnel to work effectively. Since the center has board and unspecific target population, most of the center activities, therefore, emphasizes on models development or strategies for charging of behaviorand risks of each age-range population by concentration on complete health promotion service, enhancing the population potential for self-care, and applying to their life-style change as well as emphasis on civil society for their target group e.g. Aging Association. 4. The success of the Health Promotion Center Zone 1 was proved that it needs executive with vision of technical knowledge and democracy mind and administration, and needs competence personnel with long experience and hard-working intention. The center allows the staff to develop their capability and participate to management process including develop their capability and participate to management process including develop their own management system that foster the readiness to work of both personnel evaluation and follow-up program. Moreover, the center promotes its staff to practice their health promotion activities according to the motto "Good Health, Begins at ourselves". 5. The board success of health promotion implementation has to have participation from mass media and modify the social marketing concept into program implementation systematically by using governmental organization as major unit to operate and coordinate other relevant parties to make public relation consistently. This should emphasis on awareness of general population and concern of health promotion programs that cover all target population and emphasis on participation from each family, group and community to make social movement for change. | en_US |
