Operational anaysis for HIV/AIDS prevention and promotion program in Buriram provinceOpinions of the selected public senior officials and operational staff either directly or indirectly responsible for HIV/AIDS prevention and promotion program in Buriram were searched through interview technique. The opinions were analysed to be inputs for developing HIV/AIDS program. Most of the interviewees were concerned over social impact led by HIV/AIDS and felt sympathetic to the infected. Most regarded continuous and sufficient budget for the program as a necessary contribution. Nevertheless, some organisations did not considered the HIV/AIDS program as their routine work particularly the public organisations under the Ministry of Interior and Education. In 1997, there were 59 sub-programs under the HIV/AIDS program in Buriram. The disadvantages of the program implementation in Buriram were the lack of coordination among organisations, lack of effective monitoring system, lack of evaluation to program outcomes, lack of information for planning, and no measurable indicators for program evaluation leading to less reliable information used. To better the program implementation in Buriram, the activity of seeking cooperation among all levels of public and private organisations should be practically initiated.
