บทคัดย่อ
Rate, causes and factors associated with delayed and or incorrect laboratory report(CBC, blood sugar and electrolyte) at Khon Kaen Hospital Khon Kean hospital is tertiary care hospital, of 638 beds. There are an average 749 patients per day. Many laboratory tests are requested that cause delayed along with incorrected laboratory reports, making delays in management. This study was conducted to assess the magnitude of problems, causes and factors associated with delays and incorrect laboratory reports of blood test for complete blood count(CBC), blood sugar(BS) and electrolytes(E'lyte) by a descriptive study. Routine laboratory request for CBC, blood sugar and electrolytes before 11.00 am, from medicine (male patient), surgery(female patient) and pediatric wards, during June 1997 and November 1997, were studied. The time between of various processes of laboratory tests and reportes was recorded to analyze for causes and factors of problems. Factors associated with delayed reports such as, date of request, number of specimens per day, technic of collected specimens, and etc. were also recorded. The incidence of delayed laboratory reports, which were defined as having results available after 4.00 pm. was 83.8. The incidence of incorrect technical collected specimens was 26.
