บทคัดย่อ
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is becoming more of a problem in both human and veterinary medicine. The major causes of antibiotic resistance include improper antimicrobial usage. Furthermore, antibiotic usage in veterinary treatment is being scrutinized as a factor to the rise of resistant microorganisms. Antimicrobial usage in veterinary medicine has been linked to AMR in human pathogens. There is an increase in global initiatives to monitor antimicrobial usage in food-producing animals, but data for companion animals is still limited. The goals of this study are to determine the pattern of antimicrobial agents used in targeted veterinary clinics and hospitals, to estimate the volume of antimicrobial use in companion animals per kilogram of the animal's body weight for three consecutive years in 2017-2019, to estimate of the total national antimicrobials consumption in companion animals, and to identify factors contributing to the difference in the difference in the antimicrobial use patterns.
