Abstract
The National Health Examination Survey (NHES) has been conducted every five years
since 1991 to gather data from a representative sample of the non-institutionalized Thai
population. The NHES is the only national health survey in Thailand that includes health
examinations, laboratory tests, and dietary interviews for participants of all ages.
Health data obtained from the NHES align with age groups and contemporary
health issues, such as health behaviors and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
Topics include dietary habits, smoking (including e-cigarettes), alcohol consumption,
physical activity, and reproductive health. It also covers conditions like obesity, diabetes,
hypertension, abnormal blood lipid levels, and elderly health issues such as dependency.
The 7th NHES (2024-2025) was conducted by the Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi
Hospital, Mahidol University, in collaboration with various university networks, including:
Faculty of Public Health, Chiang Mai University, College of Public Health Sciences,
Chulalongkorn University, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, and Faculty of
Medicine, Prince of Songkla University, with support from the Thai Health Promotion
Foundation (ThaiHealth) and the Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI).
The primary objective of this report is to demonstrate the prevalence of diseases
and key health risk factors at the national level, distributed by sex, age group, region
and administrative area, using a multi-stage stratified probability sampling method of
population aged 15 years and older from 20 provinces, including Bangkok. A total sample
size was 23,760 participants. Field data were collected from August 2024 to April 2025. The
survey had 22,822 participants, with a response rate of 96.1 percent.
