Abstract
Patients Transport personnel are individuals who work at the hospital frontiers, and the trend in moving and handling patients is estimated to rise consecutively. It is important that the patient moving process should be fast, timely, accurate, and safe. This is also relevant to 3P safety policy, which concerns the patients' Transport personnel who have a high risk of injuring their muscles, which could diminish work efficiency, impacting both patients and the hospital. This research aims to: 1) Investigate the components and performance indicators of Patients Transport personnel to support high-quality healthcare services. 2) Develop competency enhancement programs for Patients Transport personnel to align with high-quality healthcare services. 3)Propose policy recommendations for developing Patients Transport personnel competencies in hospitals to support high-quality healthcare services. This research was conducted using the research and development methodology comprising four phases: Phase 1 involves studying the components and performance indicators of Patients Transport personnel. Phase 2 entails developing and refining the training curriculum based on Taba's conceptual framework. Phase 3 involves evaluating the effectiveness of the curriculum. Phase 4 involves formulating policy recommendations for enhancing Patients Transport personnel competencies. The study sample consists of Patients Transport personnel from Ministry of Public Health-affiliated hospitals. For Phase 1, a random sampling method was employed, selecting 252 individuals. For Phase 3, a purposive sampling method was used, dividing participants into four regions with 30 persons in each group. The research tools include: 1) Competency development curriculum, 2) Manuals, 3) Videos 4) Competency assessment forms 5) pre- and post-training knowledge tests 6) Practical skills assessment forms 7) Surveys on Patients Transport personnel satisfaction with training participation 8) Suitability, feasibility, congruence, and utility assessment forms for the competency development curriculum. Quantitative data were analyzed using percentages, means, standard deviations, and t-tests to compare pre- and post-training competency levels. Qualitative analysis entails content analysis of interview transcripts.
