AI Psychological Intervention Open Platform for Improving Mental Health Service Using Artificial Intelligent Conversation Agent in Thailand

Abstract
AI mental health chatbots play a significant role in supporting mental health for various reasons such as accessibility, anonymity and privacy, reducing stigma, reducing workload of mental health professionals, providing early intervention, providing 24/7 support, providing guided self-help, supplementing human professionals, providing data and insights as well as being a cost-effective tool which has high scalability. Although being beneficial but developing AI mental health chatbots presents several challenges including mental health expertise and understanding as well as technical challenges. In this recent years, mental health setting across the country have showed interests in developing AI mental health chatbot to provide services to a particular population and issues. However, not only the two challenges mentioned above, developing an AI mental health chatbot requires manpower, budget, and it is time consuming. As a result, developing and employing AI mental health chatbot has not succeeded. This project aims to provide AI mental health chatbot creator for mental health professionals who do not have programming or coding skills to be able to develop their own AI mental health chatbot. With a drag-and-drop user interface, ready-to-use AI models for emotion and topic classification, a training program as well as multiple one-on-one mentoring sessions, this project has successfully help 26 mental health settings to develop and employ their own AI mental health chatbots. Withing this 18 months, apart from successfully developed the 26 chatbots that have reached more than 2000 users across the country, there are also 6 ongoing researches emerged from this projects which are; 1. The Effectiveness of Using Educational Intervention for Dementia Caregivers via LINE Chatbot on Stress, Anxiety and Depression by Psychology Department Neurological Institute of Thailand. 2. The Effects of Music Interventions for Stress Regulation in Daily Life via Artificial Intelligence Chatbot: A Pilot Study by Thailand Mental Health Technology and Innovation Center. 3. The Effectiveness of Using Educational Intervention for Dementia Caregivers via LINE Chatbot on Stress, Anxiety and Depression by Psychiatry Department, Ratchapiphat Hospital. 4. The study of using AI chatbot for psychoeducation in Depression among adolescents by Guidance Department, Assumption College. 5. The development of the Rajanukul Chatbot: for caregivers of children with delayed development by Research and Development Department, Rajanukul Insititute. 6. The development of the Rajanukul Chatbot: for caregivers of children with speech and language impairment by Medical Rehabilitation Department, Speech Therapy Unit Rajanukul Insititute. Based on the above outcome, it is shown that the AI Psychological Intervention Open Platform for Improving Mental Health Service Using Artificial Intelligent Conversation Agent in Thailand project has contributed to the improvement of mental health services to various populations. It supports psychological and mental health research as well as being a sustainable technology for Thailand.
